Research Interests
My area of research is the evaluation of age and sex differences in modern children using advanced imaging techniques. I collected a large sample of diaphyseal dimensions in South Africa and current research efforts are directed towards the evaluation of skeletal and dental variation in modern North American children. Emphasis is placed on appropriate statistical approaches to age and sex estimation and addressing the methodological issues associated with the subadult biological profile.

I am also interested in the craniometric and postcraniometric variation in genetically admixed populations, especially within South Africa. Current research is dedicated to exploring the sex-biased asymmetry in the craniometric variation of modern South Africans. I am associated with numerous colleagues and projects concerning in-depth assessments of population variation and sexual dimorphism within South Africans. Most of the research focuses on the micro-evolutionary changes in the population and the direct effects of population history, migration and sociopolitical regimes.
